"Over and over, the message was clear: Just do more. And if that doesn’t work, you didn’t do enough."

Thats so common to me, but I am not a UX researcher, I see this in OD change and quality, for the past 35 years. I thought that the problem was of people not listening to me, nor recognising my talents. And now I see that it was me who was not understanding the perspective of others.

Managers in organisations design and make operations work well. Everything that goes on should align with this. I then switched my focus on supporting those managers, when I was stuck and I accidentally asked a question "how can I help you?" They paused, flummoxed, and then proceeded to help me to understand their issues, and we could then discuss how I could help them.

Think about the different perspectives; its not a right or wrong, but who can we meld into the current frame of reference, and help contribute to the whole.
